November 23rd? Daily devotion CHARLES SPURGEON

Verse of the day: Communion with him. (1 John 1. 6)

When we join Christ by faith, we are in such complete communion that we become one with him, his interests and ours become mutual and identical. We are in communion with Christ in his love. We like what you like. Christ loves the saints, we love them too. Jesus loves sinners, we love them too. Love the poor human race that perishes; and longs to see the deserts of the earth become the garden of the Lord; and the United States as well. We are in communion with Jesus in his desires. He wants the glory of God; we also strive to achieve this same goal. Jesus wants the saints to be with him wherever he is; we also want to be there, with Jesus. Does Jesus want to banish sin? and we fight under their banner. Jesus wants his Father’s name to be loved and adored by all creatures; we pray every day 😕 Your kingdom is coming; Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven? (Matthew 6:10). We are in communion with Christ in his sufferings. We are not nailed to the cross of our Lord, to die cruelly. But when Jesus is slandered, so are we. It is sweet enough to be rebuked for love of Him, to be despised for following the Master, to have the world against us. Is not the disciple above his master and the servant above his master? (Matthew 10:24). As for us, we are in communion with him in his work, serving men through the Word of Truth and actions of love. Like Jesus, our food and drink is to do the will of the One who sent us and to finish his work (see John 4:34). We are also in communion with him in his joys. We are happy with your happiness and we rejoice in your exaltation. Believer, have you ever tasted this joy? There is no purer or more inspiring pleasure that we can experience on this side of heaven than to have the joy of Christ filling our hearts. His glory awaits us to complete our fellowship, for his church will sit with him on his throne as his beloved wife and queen.
