November 13th? Daily devotion CHARLES SPURGEON

Verse of the day: The pammpano cannot bear fruit on its own (John 15:4).

How did you start producing fruit? When you came to Jesus and surrendered to the great atonement made by him, trusting in his consummate righteousness. Do you remember those early days? In them the vine really flourished, the flower appeared, the pomegranate sprouted and the balsams spread its aroma. Have you rejected since those days? If this is true, I urge you to remember this moment of love. Repent and do the first works. Get involved in those activities that have brought you closer to Christ, because all his fruits come from him. Any sacred exercise that leads you to Christ will help you bear fruit. Without a doubt, the sun is a great collaborator in the production of fruits in the trees of the orchard; and the Lord Jesus is much more than that to the trees in his garden of grace. When was it most unsuccessful? Was it not when you lived further away from the Lord Jesus Christ, when you relaxed in prayer, when you strayed from the simplicity of faith? It is not when the blessings have occupied your attention more than your Lord, when you have said: “My mountain will stand firm. Will I never be shaken? Have you forgotten Who is your resistance? Wasn’t it then that its fruits ceased? Some of us have learned before the Lord, through a terrible humiliation of heart, that we are nothing without Christ. When we see the absolute sterility and decay of all the power of the creature, we cry out in agony: “All my fruit must be found in Him, because no fruit can come out of me. ” We know from past experiences that the more we depend on the grace of God in Christ and the hope of the Holy Spirit, the more fruit we will bear. Trust Jesus to give you life, but also to bear fruit.
