November 11th? Daily devotion CHARLES SPURGEON

Verse of the day: Under you, extend your eternal arms. (Deuteronomy 33. 27)

God, the Eternal God, is our protection at all times, especially when we are in deep anguish. There are times when the believer experiences intense humiliation. Having a great sense of his sin, the believer prostrates himself before God, to the point of hardly knowing how to pray. And in his own eyes he seems so unworthy. Child of God, remember: as you go through great humiliation, the eternal arms of the Lord are under you. Sin can lead to discouragement, but the great atonement of Christ is always below everything. The believer sometimes sinks deep into painful external trials. If you cannot count on any earthly support, what should you do? Underneath are always the everlasting arms. You cannot fall into affliction and pain so deep that the covenant of grace of an ever faithful God does not surround you. The believer can sink into grief from within, due to intense conflict; However, even in this condition, he cannot go so deep that it is beyond the reach of the eternal arms, they are below the believer. As long as we are sustained in this way, Satan’s efforts to harm us will be in vain. This assurance of protection is a comfort to any believer tired of working hard in the Lord’s service. It includes the promise to grow strong every day, grace for every need, and power for every obligation. And what’s more, when death comes, that promise remains true. When we are in the middle of the Jordan, we will say like David: “I will fear no harm, because you are with me?” (Psalm 23,4). We will descend into the well, but not deeper than that, because the eternal arms prevent a further fall. Throughout life, and at the end, we will be supported by “everlasting arms. ” – Arms that do not tire or lose strength, because I, the Lord, Creator of the ends of the earth, do not get tired or not tired? (Isaiah 40:28).
