December and this Christmas season is my favorite time of the year! I love the songs, the decorations, the gatherings, the gift exchanges, the hugs, the displays of gratitude and generosity, the declarations of love, the friendship and the festive atmosphere! I love Christmas music! Everything is peace! All love!? Sing that the Savior has arrived !? You have left Jesus, your kingdom of light . . . but my favorite: Oh Holy Night, by Adolphe Adam.
Interestingly, atheism does not produce music: How can we sing and rejoice when we do not believe in the Creator, in his grace, mercy, purpose, and providence? How do you sing when you think you’re an existential tramp, a victim of chance and chance?
- But the Christian has many reasons to rejoice.
- Sing.
- And celebrate Christ’s coming into the world! At this point when the Gospel of Luke.
- In the first two chapters.
- About the birth of Christ records five beautiful songs! The gospel is the third book of the Bible with the highest number of songs.
- The first is the book of Psalms and the second is the book of Revelation.
Here are the songs recorded by Luke
Why is there so much music, joy and celebration at Christ’s Christmas? The very content of these songs satisfactorily answers this question! Here are some answers:
Therefore, Simeon said, “O Sovereign, you can return your servant in peace, for my eyes have seen thy salvation, which you have prepared in the eyes of all peoples” (Luke 2:29-32).
You see, Adam and Eve’s sin ruined everything! He stole our innocence, our purity, our altruism, our peace and our security! And it has made us guilty, filthy, selfish, dissatisfied, insecure, and not subjected to god’s rule!Get us out of the garden! He broke our fellowship with God. However, in Genesis 3:15, God made a great promise and a great prophecy! What day, the woman’s seed, crushes the snake’s head! And the Old Testament identifies this?God with us!
After this prophecy, God gave more than 100 complementary prophecies! They are divided in the Old Testament. Through his prophets, He revealed various details about the coming and ministry of His Anointed One. Just a few examples:
It is enough to consider the accuracy of this last prophecy: seven hundred years before Christ, Miqueas looks at the map of the world and prophesies: The Messiah was not born in Egypt, in Arabia or Rome, but in Israel!Israel is divided into 12 tribes, but it will be born in the territory of the tribe of Judah!Judah has several cities, and although his parents live in Nazareth, he will be born in the small village of Belém!
What is the possibility of a seer, 700 years ago, of guessing that one of our presidents would have been born in Pernambuco, Caetés, former garanhuns district?Just for God’s sake! That’s why he says, “I am God and there is no other like me. I’m announcing what’s going to happen, and since ancient times things that haven’t happened yet. My advice will stand by and I will do all my will. “? (Isaiah 46:9-10)
Why is there so much music, joy and celebration at Christmas? For hundreds of prophecies have been fulfilled in Christ! This demonstrates, once again, the fidelity of the Word of God!
At the beginning of his canticle, Zechariah alludes to the miracle of the incarnation and said, Praise be to the Lord, God of Israel, for having visited and redeemed his people (Luke 1:68). John further clarifies this when he says: “In the beginning, it was the Word. He was with God and he was God. ? He who is the Word became flesh and lived among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the only begotten Son of the Father, full of grace and truth (John 1:1,14).
The Word has become flesh!By this miracle, God reveals his great interest, his goodness, his love, his compassion, his mercy and his grace for us sinners!A besieged man struggled with that truth. During the Christmas service, speaking of the incarnation, he went and went home. . As it was very cold, when he got home, the wood-burning oven lit up. Light and heat attracted the birds approaching the window. The besieged man took pity on them! So he opened the door and tried to encourage them to come in, but they fled for fear of your presence!Frustrated, he thought, “Ah, if I could become a bird and speak your language? And tell them I’m not, an enemy, but I love them, I just want to save them. At this very moment, the besieged man understood the miracle of the incarnation! And your heart was filled with joy!
Why is there so much music, joy and praise at Christmas?First, because hundreds of prophecies have been fulfilled in Christ!Second, because the miracle of the incarnation has occurred!
“He who is the Word became flesh and dwelned among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the only begotten Son of the Father, full of grace and truth.
Praise be to the Lord, God of Israel, for visiting and redeeming His people.
See this truth in two parts of Zechariah’s song
First: Praise be to the Lord, God of Israel, for visiting and redeeming His people. Did he promote for us a powerful salvation in the line of his servant David (as he had said by his holy prophets in ancient times)?(Luke 1 : 68-70)
Secondly: give his people the knowledge of salvation, through the forgiveness of their sins, by the tender mercy of our God, through which the rising sun will visit us from above to shine on those who live in darkness and shades. and guide our steps on the path of peace? (Luke 1: 77-79)
At Christmas, doesn’t the Christian celebrate the birth of the baby Jesus?A simple symbol of humility, purity and love, in fact, it’s all that and more!Zechariah praises God because in the child Jesus sees: 1) The Redeemer 2) Who came to us, who live in darkness and shadow of death!3) He came to promote a mighty Salvation 4) He came to bring a message of forgiveness of sin through God’s tender mercy!
As a good Jew, Zechariah knew the Old Testament, knew that he testified and appointed Jesus Christ!I knew that, gradually, this revealed the character and mission of the Messiah. You know this?
So when the Christian thinks about Christmas, he thinks of the great love of God he sent, his only Son?To solve our worst problem?Sin!D. A. Carson said:
Finally, at Christmas, the Christian looks at the manger and sees: Prophecies are fulfilled! The miracle of the current incarnation. Jesus lives a perfect life (without any sin). Jesus preaches repentance to God, Jesus dies for our sins. Jesus is resurrected with power and great glory! We see Jesus say:
“Anyone who practices sin is a slave to sin. But if the Son frees you, will you really be free?”
“I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no one comes to the Father but for me.
For I have descended from heaven, not to do my will, but to do the will of him who sent me; and it is the will of him who sent me: that he should not lose any of those who have given me, but that I will resurrect them on the last day.
Why does my Father want everyone who looks at and believes in the Son to have eternal life, and I will resurrect him on the last day?John 6: 38-40
Having believed, we have received forgiveness of sins, and by seeing the Holy Ghost transform our values, attitudes, words, and actions, we grow in the security of our salvation That is why we sing and rejoice at Christ’s Christmas!
If you still live in the darkness of sin, in the shadow of death, pray to God now and ask Him, through his tender mercy, to give you repentance, faith in Jesus Christ, forgiveness of sins, and eternal salvation.
