May 31st? Daily devotion CHARLES SPURGEON

Verse of the day 😕 The king also passed through Cedrom Creek. ?(2 Samuel 15:23? ARC)

David passed this melancholy current, with his sad company, when he mocked his treacherous son. Man, according to God’s heart, was not free of tribulations, in fact his life was full of tribulations. He was the anointed and afflicted of the Lord. Then why should we expect relief from our afflictions? The King of Kings himself has not been favored for a more pleasant and peaceful path: he passed over the dirty well of Cedrom, where the filth of Jerusalem ran.

  • God had a Sinless Son.
  • But He does not have a single son without the discipline of his rod.
  • It is a great joy to believe that Jesus was tempted in every way in our likeness.
  • What is our Cedrom this morning? Our Lord has gone through all this.
  • Are the physical pain.
  • Poverty.
  • Persecution.
  • Or contempt our Cedrom? For all these cedars.
  • The Lord Jesus passed before us.
  • “In all his anguish.
  • Was he in distress? (Isaiah 63:9).

The strangeness we show with afflictions must be banished immediately and forever. He who is the head of all the saints knows from his own experience the sadness that is so special to us. All citizens of Zion must be freed from the honorable company of mourners, of which Prince Emmanuel is leader and captain. Despite his humiliation, David always returned triumphantly to his city and his Lord emerged victorious from the grave. Therefore, we must be in a good mood, because we will also emerge victorious. We will gladly draw water from the sources of salvation, although for a while we will have to cross the harmful currents of sin and pain. Soldiers of Christ, have courage, did the king himself triumph after overcoming Cedrom?therefore, we too will succeed.
