Verse of the day 😕 Trust your care for the Lord, and he will support you. ?(Psalm 55. 22)
Agitation, though exerted on legitimate matters, led to excess, has in itself the nature of sin. Our Lord repeats many times the precept to avoid agitation. It is a precept reiterated by the apostles; It is a principle that cannot be neglected without implying transgression, since the very essence of anxious prudence is the thought that we are wiser than God and the action of impulsively putting ourselves in his place to do for him what he wants. has promised to do. do for us. We try to think about what we imagine He will forget. We try to carry our heavy burden on ourselves, as if the Lord is unwilling or unable to take them for us. Such disobedience to this principle of our Lord, this unbelief in his Word, this presumption of interference in his providence, all that is sin. And more than that: agitation often leads to sin. Anyone who cannot calmly hand over his things to God, but carry his own burdens, is likely to be tempted to use the wrong means to help himself. This sin leads us to forget God as our counselor and instead turn to human wisdom. It is equivalent to drinking from “broken cisterns” instead of drinking from the “spring of living waters. ” (Jeremiah 2:13)? a sin committed by Israel in the past.
