Is Christ worth it?
Verse of the day: If someone comes to me and does not hate their father, their mother, their wife, their children, their brothers and sisters, and even their own lives, they cannot be my disciple. cross and comes after me cannot be my disciple (Luke 14:26-27)
- Jesus is not ashamed or afraid to tell us the worst: the painful cost of being a Christian: deranging the family (verse 26).
- Taking a cross (verse 27).
- Giving up his goods (verse 33).
- Print on the grace pact.
- They’re all big and bold.
- It’s expensive! Come and be my disciple.
However, Satan hides the worst and only shows the best. Everything that really matters in the agreement with Satan is in small print on the last page.
On the first page, in large, bold letters, are the words: “Is it true that you will not die?(Genesis 3. 4) and? All this, I’ll give it to you if, prostrate, you love me?(Matthew 4. 9). But on the back, in small print? So small that you can only read it with the magnifying glass of the Bible?It is written: “And after fleeting pleasures, you will suffer with me forever in hell. “
Why is Jesus willing to show us the “worst” and the best when Satan only shows us the best?Matthew Henry replies: “Satan shows the best, but hides the worst, because the best does not make up for the worst. ; But will Christ reconcile abundantly?
Jesus’ call is not simply a call to suffering and selflessness; It is above all a call to a feast, this is the accent of luke’s parable 14:16-24, Jesus also promises a glorious resurrection where all the losses of that life will be repaired (Luke 14:14). that will help us cope with difficulties (Luke 22. 32). He also tells us that our Father will give us the Holy Ghost (Luke 11:13). He promises that even if we are killed because of the kingdom, he will not lose a hair from our heads (Luke 21:18).
Does this mean that when we sit down to calculate the cost of Jesus’ sequel, when do you consider it?Worse? And what? Best?It is worth it, it is worth it (Romans 8. 18; 2 Corinthians 4. 17).
It is not the same with Satan. The stolen bread is sweet, but then the mouth will be filled with gravel (see Proverbs 20:17).
