We are still in the middle of the year and the holidays are a long way off, however, when we ask people how they live the first exclamation we hear is usually:?I’m tired, I’ve got a lot to do. I have the children I have to take care of, the ministry in the church to plan, the classes for a new course starting this month, the preparation of the trip that the husband is going to make on business.
The second question after that is :?And what is your relationship with the Lord like?
Then we hear those same words that we often say to ourselves trying to minimize our neglected spiritual life:
? Oh, you know, with all these intense activities, I didn’t have much time, not even much desire to be with God.
What is happening with us We have so much technology and equipment from the home and other facilities to help us cope with the tasks of life and yet we are always full of activities and small things to solve.
And Jesus said
?? Marta, Marta, you’re restless and you care about a lot of things. ? (Lk 10. 42a)
However, little or even one thing is needed; Maria Peas, you chose the right part and you won’t remove it. ? (Lk 10. 42b)
Sheep, if we have done too much in our lives and prevent us from having the most important thing for our eternal soul, then should we examine Martha? And sincerely value where we place our values, expectations and desires.
How do we serve the Lord with our time?
To abandon ourselves at the feet of our Lord, the place where it matters most, we must know who our Lord is and listen to His invitation:
?? Come unto me all ye that are tired and overwhelmed, and I will relieve you; take my yoke upon you and learn from me, that I am sweet and humble in heart and you will find rest for your soul. ?(Mt 11. 28 -29)
When Jesus told Martha that there was only one thing that mattered: being at the master’s feet and learning from him, He told her that we could rest in him, without fear of leaving many things unresolved!
When we seek the Lord, he gives us rest
“For we have sought the Lord our God; We looked for him and he gave us rest everywhere. (2 channels 14. 7b)
It is God who restores our strength.
“This strengthens the weary and multiplies the strength of the one who has no vigour (Is 40:29).
The Prince of Peace gives us the privilege of doing less so that we can be with him, learn from him, and rest in him.
We in Christ can have Martha and Mary, who exist in each of us, reconciled and balanced, doing what is necessary and also the most important thing: being with Jesus and learning from him.
Marthas and Marys, go ahead, sheep, God is with you.
