Mark Dever? A biblical understanding of evangelism

. . In summary, so far we have considered among the characteristics that characterize a healthy church: explanatory preaching, biblical theology, biblical understanding of the gospel, and conversion. One way to measure the importance of these things is to consider what the consequences are for congregations that lose them. Sermons can easily become repetitions of long-known truths. Christianity can become indistinguishable from the surrounding secular culture. The gospel can be transformed into nothing more than personal spiritual help. Conversion can degenerate from an act of God to a simple human decision. But those congregations? With superficial preaching, secular thinking, and a self-centered gospel that encourages little more than a simple verbal confession of Christ (often distorting Romans 10: 9)? they cannot adequately proclaim the great news of salvation in Christ. . . For all members of a church, but especially for leaders who have the privilege and responsibility to teach, a biblical understanding of evangelism is crucial. Obviously, how someone shares the gospel is closely related to how that person understands the gospel. If your mind has been shaped by the Bible regarding God and the gospel, human need and conversion, then a correct understanding of evangelism will naturally follow.

We should be more concerned about gospel KNOWLEDGE and TEACHING in itself than simply trying to teach people methods and strategies to share it.
