March 9th? Daily devotion CHARLES SPURGEON

Verse of the day 😕 It’s totally desirable. (Singing of Songs 5. 16)

The incomparable beauty of Jesus is attractive in every way. Her beauty is not just to be admired, but to be loved. The Lord Jesus is more than nice and beautiful. It is desirable. Certainly, God’s people can justify the use of this excellent adjective, because the Lord Jesus is the object of the most intense love of his people, a love founded on the intrinsic excellence of his person, the total perfection of his charms. Disciples of Jesus, look at the lips of your Lord and answer: Is not his speech the most pleasant of all? Do not his words burn your heart as you walk beside him on the Christian path? Look at the head of Jesus, more precious than fine gold, and tell me: Are not his thoughts precious to you? Is not your adoration for affection strengthened when you humbly bow before this face that, like Lebanon, is as good as cedars (see Song of Solomon 5:15)? Is there no charm in all the characteristics of the Lord Jesus? And isn’t your whole person so fragrant with the scents of excellent salves? Is there a member of your glorious body that is not attractive? Is there any part of you that is not a good attraction for our souls? Or one of your works that is not a strong rope to hold your heart?

  • Our love for him is not a seal placed alone in the loving heart of the Lord Jesus; our love is also rooted in your mighty arm.
  • We want to imitate the whole life of Jesus and reflect his perfect character.
  • In all other beings we see imperfections; in Christ.
  • However.
  • There is perfection.
  • The best of all the saints of the Lord Jesus have stains on their clothes and wrinkles on their faces.
  • The Lord Jesus is totally loving.
  • All the stars have spots.
  • The world has deserts.
  • We may not love everything in the most beautiful.
  • But it is pure gold; it’s light without darkness.
  • Luminosity without darkness.
  • “It’s very desirable.
