March 2nd? Daily devotion CHARLES SPURGEON

Verse of the day: “Then all Israel had to descend toward the Philistines to sharpen the plow, its hoe, its axe, and its sickle” (1 Samuel 13. 20).

We are waging a great battle against the evil Philistines; we must use all weapons at our fingertips. Preach, teach, pray, contribute? Everything has to be put into practice; And the talents we think are useless to work should be used. Plows, axes and snouts can be useful in taking down philistines. Brute weapons can carry violent blows and murder does not have to be done elegantly, as long as it is effective. Every appropriate moment or not, every skill fragment (trained or not), every opportunity (favorable or not) must be seized, because our enemies are numerous and our strength is insufficient. Most of our weapons lack sharpening, do we need sharpness of perception, touch, energy, diligence?A complete adaptation to the Lord’s work.

  • Practical common sense is a rare virtue among those who direct the achievements of Christianity.
  • We must learn from our enemies and ask the Philistines to sharpen our weapons.
  • On this day.
  • Let us observe enough to sharpen our zeal with the help of the Holy Ghost.
  • Let us observe the devotion of the unbelievers: what suffering they suffer in the worship of their idols! Are they the ones who show patience and renunciation? Let us look at the Prince of Darkness: what perseverance in his efforts.
  • How easy in his attempts.
  • What audacity in his plans.
  • What reflexivity in his conspiracies.
  • What vigour in everything he undertakes!Demons come together.
  • As if they were one man.
  • In their infamous rebellion.
  • While we believers in Jesus are divided in our service to God and rarely work unanimously.
  • May we learn from Satan’s hellish activities to go out.
  • Like good Samaritans.
  • In search of those we can bless!.
