Satisfied forever
Verse of the day: I am the bread of life; What comes to me will never be hungry; and he who believes in me will never thirst (John 6. 35).
- This text emphasizes the fact that believing in Jesus is eating and drinking all that Jesus is.
- The text goes so far as to say that the thirst of our souls is satisfied with Jesus.
- So that we may no longer thirst.
Jesus is the end of our quest for satisfaction
When we trust in Jesus the way John tries to make us, Jesus’ presence and promise are so fulfilling that we are not overwhelmed by the seductive pleasures of sin (see Romans 6:14). power of sin and allows obedience.
John 4:14 points in the same direction: “He that drinkth of the water which I give him shall never thirst; on the contrary, will it be the water I give you a source that will flow into eternal life?According to John 6. 35, the saving faith is mentioned here as a drink of water that satisfies the deepest desires of the soul.
It is the same in John 7. 37-38 😕 Jesus stood up and exclaimed, “If anyone is thirsty, come to me and drink. Will he who believes in me, as Scripture says, run from within rivers of living water?”
By faith, Christ becomes us an inexhaustible source of fulfilling life that lasts forever and leads us to heaven, sending us His Spirit (John 7:38-39).
