March 14th? Daily devotion CHARLES SPURGEON

Verse of the day: “He that thinks he is standing, make sure that he does not fall” (1 Corinthians 10,12).

It is curious that there is such a thing as being proud of grace. One man said: “I have a lot of faith, I will not fall. ” “I have a fervent love,” someone else said. “I can bear it, there is no danger if I step back a bit. ” He who boasts of grace has little grace to boast. People who do this believe that the graces they have received can preserve them. If a quantity of oil is not introduced into the lamp continuously, even if it is turned on today, it will only emit smoke tomorrow and its smell will be harmful. Be careful not to brag about the thanks you have received. Put all your trust in Christ and his strength. This is the only way to avoid falling. Spend more time praying. Spend more time worshiping. Read the scriptures more seriously and often. Take a closer look at your life. Live closer to God. Let’s take the best example as the standard. Speak holy words. Show genuine compassion for the souls of men. When that happy day comes, when Jesus says: “Come near”, have the joy of hearing him say: “You have fought the good fight, you have finished your career and a crown of incorruptible justice is kept for you. ” Can only he keep you from stumbling and present you with joy, flawless before glory? (Jude 24).
