March 13th? Jesus is god’s amen

Jesus is god’s amen

Verse of the day: For as much as God’s promises, many have a yes in him; for also for him is the amen for the glory of God, for us (2 Corinthians 1. 20)

  • Prayer is the place where the past and the future are linked several times in our lives.
  • I mention it here because Paul connects prayer with God’s yes in this verse in an impressive way.

In 2 Corinthians 1:20, it says (in Succinct Greek, translated into succinct Portuguese): “For it is also through him that the amen for the glory of God is found, through us”. Let’s try to clear that up.

This is what it says: “Therefore, for Christ’s sake, we say amen to God in our prayers, to show that God receives glory for the future grace in which we trust. “

If you have ever wondered why as Christians we say amen at the end of our prayers and where this custom comes from, here is the answer. Amen is a word taken directly from Hebrew to Greek without any translation, as introduced to Portuguese and most other languages without any translation.

In Hebrew, was this a very strong statement (see Numbers 5. 22; Nehemiah 5. 13; 8. 6)?A formal, solemn and serious statement?I confirm what you just said?In simple terms: “Amen”, this means a very serious yes in the context of addressing God.

Now notice the connection between the two halves of verse 20. The first half says, “For how many are the promises of God, so many have yes in them. ” of God, through us. “

When do you understand that? Yes, isn’t it?It means the same thing, this is what the verse says: In Jesus Christ, God tells us his yes through his promises; and in Christ we say our yes to God through prayer.
