Let us pray for the persecuted Church [We bend our knees]

We bend our knees

Last week we started reading together, should we then pray together? In this new VE series, every Saturday, we will publish a topic to pray together (not necessarily at the same time).

  • Simply put.
  • Prayer has a vital place in the life of the Christian.
  • You can pray and not be a Christian.
  • But you can’t be a Christian and you can’t pray.
  • Romans 8.
  • 15 tells us that the spiritual adoption that makes us children of God leads us to shout with verbal expressions: “Abba!Dad!? Is prayer for the Christian what it is to breathe for life?.

Do you know the parable of the sheep and the goats? There, Jesus says that what we do to one of the smallest brothers (little), we did to him (Matthew 25,40). Some believe that this text speaks of helping the poor and needy, although it is necessary and well, this is not what Jesus says here. In Matthew 24, Jesus announces his return and declares that his disciples will be persecuted and condemned to death, hated by all nations because of him (Mt 24,9).

Then Jesus begins to teach how the disciples should behave until their return, he says that he will come when you least expect him (Matthew 24:44) and to what extent does the servant whom his master finds do it on his return?(Mt 24. 46). That the disciples should be patient as they wait for their return (parable of the ten virgins?Mt 25,1-13), but that expectation must be productive (parable of talent?Mt 25:14-30) and what part of this work for the Lord must work because of the persecution of the disciples (parable of sheep and goats?Mt 25: 31-46). Jesus says that the way we treat our brethren, especially in the midst of persecution, reveals whether we really are his disciples, as John says:

We know that we have already gone from death to life because we love our brothers and sisters, the one who does not love is left in death. If someone has material resources and, seeing his brother in need, feels no pity for him, how can God’s love remain in him?(1 John 3:14, 17)

Have you prayed for the little ones who have been persecuted in the world? We are certainly more responsible because those in need are close to us (Luke 10), but that does not mean that we can cross our arms.

There are 50 countries in the Open Doors classification. Do we pray to 50 different people for each country? Let’s all pray for a country. Take the following in the list and write your prayer in the comments below.
