Last weekend we celebrated Easter, where we thought of the death and resurrection of Christ (not to mention that we do so at every dinner) and the great love he showed us and his glorious salvation, but there is one thing we forget: we believers, who are united to Christ, are called to also take our cross (not with a healthy and logical appearance) and follow Christ. The Apostle Paul reminds us that if we suffer with Christ, with Christ we will also be glorified (Rom . 8. 17).
In this sermon, preached in Passion 2013, John Piper invites us to embrace suffering for christ’s sake and the liberation of people from the bondage of darkness, empowered by the promise of immense joy in Christ in paradise and thus freed from the fear of personal protection.
- “For he that wants to save his life will lose it; But whoever loses her because of me and the gospel will save her” (Mark 8:35).
