June 9th? Prayer is for sinners

Prayer is for sinners

Verse of the day: Lord, teach us to pray. (Luke 11. 1)

  • God responds to the prayers of sinners.
  • Not perfect people.
  • And you can be completely paralyzed in your prayer if you do not concentrate on the cross and do not understand it.

I could demonstrate this from countless old testament texts, where God hears the cry of His sinful people, whose same sins have placed them in tribulation and cry out for deliverance (for example, Psalm 38. 4, 15; 40. 12-13; 107. 11-13 But let me show you two forms of Luke 11:

In this version of our Father (Luke 11:2-4), Jesus says, “When you pray, say. “And then, in verse 4, include this request: “Forgive us our sins. “Therefore, if you join the beginning of prayer in two, what it says is, “When you pray, say “forgive us our sins. “

I understand that this means that it must be part of all our prayers, as well as “sanctified be thy name”. This indicates that Jesus assumes that we really have to ask forgiveness every time we pray.

In other words, we are still sinners. Nothing we do is perfect. As Martin Luther said on his deathbed: “We are beggars, are we sincere?”It doesn’t matter how obedient we were before we prayed. We all always go to the Lord as sinners. And God does not refuse. the prayers of sinners when they pray in this way.

The second passage in which I see this being taught is in Luke 11:13: “Now, if you, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will Heavenly Father give the Holy Ghost to ask?”

Jesus calls his disciples “evil. ” Very strong language And Jesus did not mean that they were not in communion with you, he did not mean that his prayers would not be answered.

I wanted to say that for the duration of this fallen era, even your own disciples will have a penchation for evil that pollutes everything they do, but that doesn’t stop them from doing it very well.

We’re both bad and redeemed. Gradually we overcome our wickedness with the power of the Holy Ghost, but our natural corruption is not extinguished by conversion.

Nós somos pecadores e somos mendigos. E se reconhecermos esse pecado, o combatermos e nos apegarmos à cruz de Cristo como nossa esperança, então Deus nos ouvirá e responderá às nossas orações.
