Who killed Jesus?

Verse of the Day: Will you not forgive your own Son, but abandon him for all of us, and gracefully give us everything with him?(Romans 8. 32)

  • For years.
  • A friend of mine who was a pastor in Illinois preached to a group of prisoners in a state prison during Easter.
  • At one point in his message.
  • He stopped and asked the men if they knew who had killed Jesus.

Some said it was the soldiers. Some said it was the Jews, others said it was Pilate. After the silence, my friend simply said, “Did your father kill you?”

This is what the first half of Romans 8. 32 says: God did not forgive his own Son, but abandoned him?Death. ? To be this [Jesus] delivered by God’s determined plan and prescience?(Acts 2. 23). Isaiah 53 expresses it even more clearly: “Have we considered him afflicted, wounded by God?But did the LORD (your Father) like to crush him, making him sick?(Isaiah 53:4, 10).

Or as Romans 3:25 says: “God [proposed] in his blood as propitiation. “Just as Abraham raised the knife on his son Isaac’s chest, but then forgave his son because there was a ram in the bushes, so God the Father raised the knife on the chest of his own Son, Jesus; But he did not forgive him, for he was the lamb; He was the replacement.

God did not forgive His own Son, for it was the only way to forgive us. The guilt of our transgressions, the punishment of our iniquities, and the curse of our sins would inevitably have led us to the destruction of hell. forgives his own Son; He gave it up to be pierced by our rebellions, ground by our iniquities and crucified for our sin.

This verse is the most precious of the Bible to me, because the foundation of the global promise of God’s future grace is that the Son of God has taken in my body all my punishment, all my guilt, all my condemnation, all my wickedness, all my offense, and all my corruption, so that I may appear before a great and holy God , forgiven, reconciled, justified, accepted and being the beneficiary of the ineffable promises of pleasure for ever and ever to the right of God.
