July 28th? Daily devotion CHARLES SPURGEON

Verse of the day: I was stupid and ignorant; It was as irrational your presence.

(Psalm 73, 22)

  • Remember: this is a man’s confession after God’s own heart.
  • Speaking of his inner life.
  • David wrote: “I was stupid and ignorant.
  • ” The word amazed in this verse means much more than we express in ordinary language.
  • David.
  • In the third verse of the Psalm.
  • Wrote: “I envied the arrogant.
  • Seeing the prosperity of the wicked.
  • ” This shows us that the stupidity he was talking about involved sin.
  • David humiliated himself by saying he was stupid.
  • It was a sinful stupidity.
  • Which had to be condemned because of its wickedness and stubborn ignorance.
  • As David had been envious of the present prosperity of the wicked and had forgotten the terrible fate that awaited them.
  • Are we better than David.
  • To the point of calling ourselves wise? Do we admit that we have already reached perfection and have been so disciplined by God that the rod has taken away all our stubbornness? In fact.
  • That would be pride! If David were boring.
  • How boring we would be.
  • In our opinion.
  • If we could see each other! Believer.
  • Look back.
  • Think about your doubts about God when he was so faithful to you.
  • In his cry of astonishment: “Not so.
  • My Father”.
  • Remember Jesus pierced by anguish.
  • To give you the greatest blessing.
  • Think of the many times you have read their directives in the dark.
  • Misinterpreted their dispensations.
  • And complained.
  • “Everything is against me.
  • ” when they cooperate for your good! Think of how many times you chose to sin because of your pleasures.
  • When those pleasures were the root of bitterness for you! Certainly.
  • If we know our hearts.
  • We must plead guilty to the charge of sinful stupidity.
  • Aware of this “stupidity”.
  • Let’s make David’s decision ours 😕 (Psalm 73.
  • 24).
