July 27th? Daily devotion CHARLES SPURGEON

Devotion of the day: His precious and great promises (2 Peter 1. 4).

If you know the value of God’s promises and appreciate them in your heart, take the time to dictate them. There are promises that are like grapes in the press; If you crush them with your foot, the juice will drip. Thinking of sacred words is often the prelude to their fulfillment. As you ponder them, the blessings you seek will gradually come to you. Many believers thirsting for the fulfillment of the promise realized that the search for the blessing was gently distilled into their souls as they pondered it; they were happy to rest on promises that were very close to their hearts; but in addition to pondering the promises, receive them as the Word of God Himself.

  • Tell your soul: “If I were dealing with the promise of a man.
  • I would carefully consider the abilities and character of the man who made a pact with me.
  • This is also true of God’s promises.
  • My eyes should not remain so fixed on the greatness of mercy.
  • Which can make me hesitate.
  • As on the greatness of the One who promised.
  • It will make me happy.
  • O my soul.
  • Is it God.
  • Your God.
  • Who cannot lie.
  • Speaking to you? This promise of Him that you are now considering is as true as His very existence.
  • He is the unchanging God.
  • He did not change what his lips were saying.
  • Nor did he undo any of his comforting statements.
  • It does not lack power.
  • It is the Creator of heaven and earth who makes this promise.
  • He is not mistaken in his wisdom as to when to bestow promised blessings.
  • For he knows when it is best to give it and when it is best to keep it.
  • Therefore.
  • Since it is the word of a God so truthful.
  • So immutable.
  • So powerful.
  • So wise.
  • Should I and will I believe the promise? If we meditate on the promises and take into consideration the One who promised.
  • We will experience his meekness and obtain his fulfillment.
