Verse of the day: You yourself were one of them. (Abdias 11)
In his time of need, Edom owed fraternal kindness to Israel, but instead the men of Sau joined the enemies of Israel. In the previous sentence, a particular emphasis is placed on the word you, as when Caesar exclaimed to Brutus: 11 Is it you, Brutus?. A bad deed can get worse because of the person who committed it. When God’s chosen people commit a sin, we sin strongly, because we are very favored. If an angel put his hand on our shoulder, when we were doing a bad deed, I wouldn’t need to use another reprimand besides this one: “What are you doing here?”Although we are so forgiven, so redeemed, so educated, and so blessed, will we dare to use our hands to do evil?!
- A few minutes of confession can be beneficial to you this morning.
- Dear reader.
- Have you ever behaved like bad?At a party.
- Some people made fun of an indecent joke.
- You acted like them and the joke was totally harmless to your ears.
- When unpleasant words were uttered on God’s ways.
- You were timidly silent.
- Looking like one of those who uttered those words.
- The people of the world traded in the market and made greedy transactions.
- Weren’t you part of it?When they were looking for vanity.
- Weren’t you as greedy as they were?.
Is there a difference between you and them? We’re in close contact. Be honest with yourself and make sure you are a new creature in Christ Jesus (see 2 Corinthians 5. 17). When you are sure, proceed with surveillance, so that no one will say to you again, “You yourself were one of them. “You do not want to share his eternal condemnation; Why look like them?Place yourself with God’s people and not with the world.
