July 18th? Communion in the desert

Verse of the day: That is why, behold, I will attract him, take him into the wilderness, and speak to his heart (Osseas 2. 14).

God’s goodness fascinates us with sin and he decides to try with us the most powerful charms of love. Do we not remember when the One who loves our souls gained our affection and attracted us to the fascinations of the world? He’ll do it again, every time he sees the possibility that we’re trapped by the devil.

  • He promises to lure us to a separate place.
  • Because he can deal better with us there.
  • This place is not a paradise.
  • But a desert.
  • Because in this type of place there will be nothing to divert our attention from God.
  • Of afflictions.
  • The Presence of the Lord becomes everything to us and we value his company above any value we have paid him.
  • When we sit under our own vine and fig tree.
  • In the company of our friends.
  • Loneliness and suffering attract more believers to their Father than any other circumstance.

When we are attracted and isolated, the Lord has great things to tell us, seeking our comfort. The Lord “speaks to our hearts,” as the original Hebrew says. Oh, we have this promise explained in our own experience!out of love, separated by trials and comforted by the Spirit of Truth, let us know the Lord and sing with joy!
