Verse of the day: The fire will burn continuously on the altar (Leviticus 6. 13).
Always keep the altar of private prayer lit. It is the very life of true godliness. The family shrine and altars are burned from here; therefore, it is well lit. Particular devotion is the essence, the evidence and the barometer of vital and practical religion. On this altar, burn the fat of your sacrifices. If possible, allow your private prayer times to be regular, frequent, and quiet. Effective prayer is very valuable. Don’t have questions to pray about? I want to suggest the church, the ministry, your own soul, your children, your parents, your neighbors, your homeland, the cause of God, and the truth to the whole world. We must examine ourselves on this important question. Do we take private prayer with indifference? Does the fire of private devotion burn in our hearts? Do the car wheels drag a lot? If this is true, beware: it is a sign of decomposition. Let us cry out and ask God for a spirit of grace and supplication. Let’s set aside special moments for extraordinary prayer. For if the ashes of world conformity douse that fire, the fire on the family altar will be dwarfed and our influence in both the world and the church will diminish. This verse also applies to the altar of the heart. It really is a golden altar. God loves to see the hearts of his children burn. Let us offer our hearts to God, burning with love and thirsty for his grace, so that the fire never goes out. Fire will not burn continuously if the Lord does not burn it. Many opponents will try to extinguish it, but if the invisible hand spills the holy oil on it, it will burn higher and higher. Let’s use the scriptures to fuel the fire in our hearts; they are living embers. Let’s listen to the sermons, but most of all, let’s spend a lot of time alone with Jesus.
