John Piper? To the preachers of prosperity: to promote faith in God

This article is the fifth in a series of twelve. The content comes from “Twelve Calls to The Preachers of Prosperity,” which can be found in the new edition of “Let the Nations Be Happy” Let the Nations Rejoice, published by the editor Cultura Crist’.

The reason the author of Hebrews tells us that we are satisfied with what we have is that the opposite implies less faith in God’s promises. He said: “Be your life without the love of money. Be happy with what you have; For He said, I will never leave thee, I will never abandon thee, so let us say with confidence, The Lord is my helper, I will not fear; What can man do for me?(Hebrews 13: 5-6). On the one hand, we can trust in the Lord as our help. He will provide and protect. And in that sense, there is a measure of prosperity that He will give us. Does your Heavenly Father know that everyone needs him? (Matthew 6:32). But on the other hand, when he says, “Be your life without love of money. Are you satisfied with what you have? Because God promises never to leave us, it must mean that we can easily go from trusting in God for our needs, using God for our will.

  • The line between? God.
  • Help me? And?God.
  • Make me sad? It’s real and the author of Hebrews doesn’t want us to go any further.
  • Preachers should help their people remember and recognize this line instead of speaking as if it did not exist.
