January 4th? Hope for imperfect Christians

Hope for imperfect Christians

Verse of the day: For with a single offering he perfected forever the sanctified (Hebrews 10:14).

This verse is full of encouragement for imperfect sinners like us and is full of motivation for holiness.

This means that you can be sure that it is perfect and complete in the eyes of your Heavenly Father, not because it is perfect now, but precisely because, although it is not perfect now, it is “sanctified”, “made holy”. that, by faith in God’s promises, you turn away from your persistent imperfection toward growing holiness. This is the point of Hebrews 10:14.

Does your faith encourage you to forsake sin and progress in holiness? It is the kind of faith that, in the midst of imperfection, can look to Christ and say, “Have you perfected me before you?”

This faith says: “Christ, today I have sinned. But I hate my sin. Well, you wrote the law in my heart and I want to keep it. And what you like is about me. And that’s why I hate sin. commit; and hates the sinful thoughts I have. ?

It is true and realistic faith that saves. It is faith that can taste the words: “For with a single offering it was perfected forever, how many are sanctified. “

This is not the boast of the strong. It is the cry of the weak who need a Savior.

I invite you, and I insist, to be weak enough that we can trust Christ in this way.
