Become
Verse of the day: Become, Lord, that we may be converted!(Lamentations 5. 21, own translation)
- There is no hope for God’s people.
- Unless God converts them from their deviations and falls into sin and disbelief.
The Book of Lamentations is the darkest book in the Bible; God Himself had erased the apple from his eyes.
?« The Lord fulfilled his indignation, spread the ardance of his wrath; He lit fire in Zion, who consumed his foundation?(Lamentations 4. 11).
? “Destroy everything that was beautiful in sight?” (Lamentations 2. 4).
?? Was the Lord saddened by the multitude of crimes?(Lamentations 1. 5).
So how does the book end?
It ends with the only hope that exists:
Convert us, Lord, so that we may be converted.
It’s my only hope and your only hope
Jesus said to Peter, “Simon, Simon, behold Satan has asked you to sieve like wheat! But I prayed for you that your faith would not be lacking; Then, when you convert, strengthen his brethren” (Luke 22:31-32).
Not if you convert. But when you convert.
Christ Jesus is the one who is at the right hand of God, who truly intercedes for us (Romans 8:34).
He’ll convert us. So, “Is he powerful to keep you from tripping?Whether it be glory, majesty, empire and sovereignty, before all ages, and now and for all ages?(Jude 1: 24-25).
