Donor gains fame
Verse of the day: That is why we do not cease to pray for you either, that our God may make you worthy of your vocation and fulfill with force every purpose of goodness and work of faith, that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ (2 Thessalonians 1:11-12).
It is good news that God designates his glory to be magnified by the exercise of his grace.
It is true that God is glorified by the power of his wrath (Romans 9:22), but repeatedly the New Testament (and the Old Testament; for example, in Isaiah 30. 18) says that we must experience God’s grace for him to be glorified.
Think about how it works in the sentence of 2 Thessaloniki 1. 11-12
Paul prays that God will respect our good resolutions.
As? Pray that “the power [of God]” will be fulfilled. In other words, they are “works of faith. “
Because? That Jesus may be glorified in us
This means that the donor receives the glory. If we make a good resolution “by his power,” he receives glory. We have faith; Grants power. We have received help; He’s glorified. It is the agreement that keeps us humble and happy and keeps him supreme and glorious.
Therefore, Paul says that this glorification of Christ is “according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus”.
God’s response to Paul’s prayer that we trust in God’s power to do good deeds is grace. God’s power to allow him to do what he has decided to do is grace.
This is how this happens in the New Testament several times: trust in God for his funny power, and he will receive glory when help comes.
We’ve received help. Get the glory
That is why christian life, not just Christian conversion, is good news.
