Served while serving others
Verse of the day: Jesus, realizing this, asked them, Why do you talk about not having bread, have you not yet thought or understood?Do you have a hardened heart? (Mark 8. 17)
- After Jesus fed the five thousand four thousand with only a few loaves and fish.
- The disciples climbed a boat without enough bread for them.
When they began to talk about their situation, Jesus said to them, Why do you talk about not having bread, have you not yet thought or understood?(Mark 8. 17). What did you not understand?
They did not understand the meaning of the remains, that is, Jesus would care for them when they cared for others. Jesus said:
“When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of pieces did they collect?They said, Twelve! And when I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many baskets full of pieces did they collect?They said, Seven! And Jesus said unto them, Do ye not yet understand?(Mark 8. 19-21)
Understand what? The remains
The remains were the ones they served. In fact, the first time, there were twelve servers and twelve baskets (Marc 6. 43). The second time, there were seven baskets left: the number of abundant completeness.
What didn’t you understand? May Jesus take care of you. You can give nothing but Jesus. When you spend your life for others, your needs will be met.
