Being an evangelist is more than just talking to people about Jesus; we must become teachers of the gospel. The gospel is proclaimed by preaching the good news. That is the beginning. But we must also explain to new believers the implications and consequences of believing in the gospel, something necessary to make true disciples.
- RTLa France points out that when Jesus told his disciples to teach.
- He transferred to them the power to be teachers.
- In article 28.
- 20.
- Matthew uses the verb “teaching” for the first time.
- He then received the authority of Christ to teach others.
Believing in the gospel requires that the born-again believer be taught and instructed to live according to the will of Jesus. Making disciples begins with the confession of faith to Christ (Romans 10:9); then follow baptism in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, so that we can be part of the Church to learn to observe all that Jesus commanded us in the context of a community of believers.
