Is that Christ everything? A Puritan prayer

Oh beautiful,

Can I read how I consumed your heart?

in the nursery of your birth

in the orchard of your agony,

on the cross of your suffering,

in the tomb of your resurrection

in the sky of your intercession.

Encourage me with these thoughts to challenge my opponent,

dodge your temptations

resist your traps,

give up the world,

be brave for the truth

Deepen in me the meaning of my holy relationship with you,

like a spiritual boyfriend,

one even with Yahweh

friend of sinners.

I think of your glory and my wickedness,

your majesty and wickedness

your beauty and my deformity,

your purity and my filth,

your justice and my wickedness

You loved me infinite and immutable

that I can love you as I am loved;

You gave up on me

that I can give myself to you;

You died for me.

I can live for you

every moment of my time,

every movement of my mind,

every time my heart beats

That I never flirt with the world and its seductions,

but walk by your side,

Listening to your voice

dress up with your graces,

and adorned with your righteousness.
