How to start a verbal exchange about Jesus

A friend of mine likes to say, “The best presentation of the gospel is the one given. “It’s true. And certainly. Many good books, sermons, and seminars can help us prepare to share our faith, but none of these resources can do for us what is often most difficult for us—just start the conversation.

We often feel powerless in front of our friends and their eternity. We justify our egocentrism that ignores our neighbors. If we are brutally honest with ourselves, we simply avoid our fears, accept our obstacles and feed our egocentrism. Then we tell ourselves that someone else will share the gospel; or that potential shame, rejection or harassment is not worth it; or that God wouldn’t even save these people. God help us.

  • Fortunately.
  • It helps us! We need God’s help to look up and see that we are surrounded by the dead who desperately need us to preach the gospel and live the life of Christ among them.
  • When do we focus on what’s really real? The facts that God exists.
  • His anger against sin comes.
  • His gospel is the only way to eternal joy.
  • Souls are precious and perish.
  • And will the lost sheep hear the voice of the shepherd? Then evangelism becomes totally exciting.

Evangelism will not happen forever. It’s a path to a great end. Human beings? Each of us in history was created in the image of God for eternal purposes and an immense goal: to bring glory to God. When we read CS Lewis’ words about the eternal meaning and destiny of our neighbors, we realize the weight and joy that comes from sharing the gospel:

“It’s a serious thing to live in a society of possible gods and goddesses, to remember that the most boring and une interesting person you’re talking to may one day be a creature who, if you saw her now, would be strongly tempted to worship her. , or a horror and corruption as you are now, if only in a nightmare?(The Weight of Glory, 45?46)

History and everyone’s going somewhere. This means that while there are no two conversations, two train trips, two lunch breaks and two trips to the park that are identical, they are all full of infinite potential and time literally runs out.

Like the wind, do we not know where the Spirit can blow in our ordinary days (John 3:. 8)?And it’s exciting. Zacchus, vertically challenged, climbed a tree because he felt he needed to see Jesus for some reason (Luke 19:1-8); the Ethiopian eunuch was meditating randomly on Isaiah 53 during his journey (Acts 8. 26-40); Sergio Paulo, a highly educated officer, asked Paul to bring him the word of God (Acts 13:7-8); and a Roman jailer was released after begging Paul to tell him what to do to be saved (Acts 16:25-34) How would these people be summoned to those who do not believe unless someone tells him?(Romans 10:14). Does the Spirit already act in the lives of those around us in a way that we do not yet realize?

If we want to take advantage of opportunities to share our faith, we must learn to accept this discomfort, in some cultures it is considered strange to raise the issue of spiritual issues in a conversation, but be courageous: whatever culture you live in, God has already raised the issue. If he raised his soul from the dead, the conversation began.

You sit next to your colleague as the smell of Christ for God among those who are saved and among those who perish.

You are among other online travelers as a foreigner whose citizenship is in paradise.

You interact with people in this age of intolerance and virtue, pointing you out as a person of humble and contrite mind, and who trembles only at the word of God.

He supervises the park’s children as someone who was born again with a living hope.

You drink water with your group of walkers like someone whose heart overflows with rivers of living water.

Are you lying in a bed in the hospital as a recipient of a spiritual heart transplant? His heart stoned and killed by a living heart of flesh.

Your family members observe that you are living a thousand dead to yourself (and finally death itself) as a new creation in Christ.

If our main concern is to avoid shame, it would be harder not to talk about eternal things. You and I have never met who you were, who you are, and who will soon be dealing with these serious spiritual problems, in the hope that someone will bring you the word of God. Do you think God is willing and able to give you what you need so that you can happily spread the word about your Son in any cultural context?Strange as it sounds at first.

God governs the cosmos in such a way that your daily life illuminates the light of the gospel in all the strategic places and relationships in which He places you. Does the Lord belong to the earth? (Psalm 24. 1), and Jesus is with you as you make disciples in your world (Matthew 28:18-20).

A colleague is used to sharing what she read that morning in her Bible with the people she meets as the day goes on. It’s intentional of you, but I also think you can’t help it, it just overflows.

Another co-worker pays for his latte and croissants?Chocolate in the café he frequents, he sits at the table and, when the waiter places the order, explains that he is about to pray for his food and asks, “What can I pray for you?”

How was your weekend? It’s a question another friend asks at work every week, and when the person answers the question, he talks about the sermon he heard in church. Another friend asks people to listen to him reciting his memorization of the scriptures to help him verify his memorization (and spread the word!) Talking about the word that is our own life (Deuteronomy 32:47) is, of course, something that the Spirit carries to people dependent on words, full of words to do.

Perhaps you are praying that God will open a door to the word, so that you can declare the mystery of Christ?(Colosssenses 4. 3). And you, without being ashamed, believe that the gospel is in fact the power of God for the salvation of all who believe (Romans 1:16), but you still do not know where to begin when God puts someone in your way.

My friend facilitated a training session on how to share the Christian faith. In a particularly valuable lesson, the group features volunteers who wear the traditional clothes of a person from a different culture. They recognize how intimidating it can be to talk to people who look different, eat different foods, speak different languages, and believe in different things. But in addition to all the possible obstacles, there’s one thing you could say to engage in a conversation (and a friendship) with anyone from anywhere. Around the world, this is the most effective thing you can say to start a conversation:

Whatever language you speak, your greeting could trigger the first conversation among many others God uses to draw someone to him. Maybe the first conversation will turn into conversation. Hello, it’s a little note, but he said to someone, “I see you. “And it means something to everyone, no matter where they are in the world.

For him? Passing your vocal cords requires only one mustard seed of faith in our great God. In addition to your faithful prayers for God to open a door to your word, the gospel also asks Him to give you everything you need to greet people in you and be a blessing to whoever he puts in his way.
