It’s a story that repeats itself in a church near you.
Maybe it was a book, a conversation or a video of Paul Washer on YouTube, but the seed of biblical teaching has been planted and over time, the child begins to worry about the church where he gathers.
- It is perhaps a church that screams for the determination of non-biblical remedies and revelations.
- Or perhaps it is a hyperlegalist congregation.
- Where even the type and size of members’ clothing is determined by leaders.
- These are extreme examples that they share the same characteristic: dissatisfaction with the scriptures.
- Preferring to add requirements to the gospel “simplicity and purity?”(2Co 11.
- 3).
The young man discovers books by Faithful Editor, Life Nova, or Monergism and ends up befriending people in his city who have the same appreciation for scripture-based theology and Christ-centered preaching.
And then you think about being a member of another church that shares these same values, but how does it come out of your current church?
Here are a few things to consider
You are not Jesus and your role is not to come around the table and spank. You may be tempted to riot in the middle of the pack, but keep in mind that explosions rarely produce peaceful fruit. If the food your brothers receive is not more solid, why further weaken their faith?
2. You are not the Holy Spirit who awakens, enlightens, or convinces. Sometimes, when our hearts warm with the discovery of authentic theology, we want to discuss it with our brothers or leaders. Take a deep breath. If you speak, be kind and concise. Just as the Holy Ghost has chosen the right time to convince you of certain biblical truths, He knows very well the means and times to build others.
Remember that churches are places where redeemed sinners gather, if you leave a church that is not in very good health to become a member of a healthier church, the basics remain the same: churches are congregations full of sinners. go to heaven. The church is not a spa. The church lives with people who will eventually criticize or offend you. Prepare your heart. Ask the Holy Ghost to baptize you with humility and patience.
4. Remember that God uses what appears to be foolishness to confuse the wise. I am referring in particular to you who are members of small or very traditional churches, and perhaps you are beginning to be ashamed that your pastor does not have the gifts of John Piper or John MacArthur. Man, really: God uses his power to accomplish his purposes in his time. And period. Have many souls already been transformed because God used their dedication? Little shepherd from the interior? that you are so critical. Less, man. Take a hoe and weed next to it. Pray with him. Cry with him. See how rough the field is and how thankless the sheep are before you get rid of the congregation you serve. Could it be that you are tempted to leave the ministry because of these rebellious young men? that they only criticize their congregation instead of talking and praying with them. You prefer to talk to him alone, pray alone with him, and honor the men who have come before you. Listen: in paradise, you’re going to have dinner with him; so have a coffee with him here on earth too.
5. La will rarely remember what he said; but they’ll never forget what you did. There is no point in having all the discussions if love is lacking (1Co 13). Whether it’s in this church or the next one, you’re dealing with ALMAS. Few things can have as much impact, on a life as love. If you’re leaving church, you can go out hugging (without cursing) your brothers and sisters. If you get hurt, it’s not because of fights and intrigues you’ve provoked (1Pierre 3. 16).
6. La new church doesn’t have all the answers, what do you expect from the other church?More explanatory preaching?Less noisy group? Okay, but take a pen and write, “These things didn’t die on the cross for me. “It’s important to recognize the importance of things. What makes a church shine is a Jesucristo. Déjà.
