The fact is that this attitude usually represents the feelings of our wives towards those who attack us, however, a pastor’s wife cannot retaliate. This almost always ends badly or makes the situation worse. At least when we, as pastors, are attacked or criticized by church members, we have the opportunity to defend ourselves, we can counterattack. We can discuss our case. In most cases, it’s a ‘lose or lose’ battle. Every time a pastor’s wife chooses the task of defending her husband. So what should she do? Here are three suggestions:
Pray for your husband that the Lord will give you grace. Pray for the attackers that God will give them a spirit of grace and love for the shepherd and convince them where they are wrong. Pray for yourself, not to be bitter, but to realize it. that sheep sometimes attack the shepherd. Pray through the Passages of the New Testament about suffering, because if the Christian is called to suffer for christ’s sake, why not even more his shepherd?
- Be a voice of confidence and insight for your husband.
- Help him with great wisdom to see where critical comments are stingy and simply not true.
