Verse of the day: when he was outraged, he did not respond with indignation; mistreated, made no threat, but gave himself to the one who judges fairly. (1 Peter 2. 23).
No one was the target of sin more seriously than Jesus. Every little animosity against him has been totally undeserved.
There has never been anyone more honorable than Jesus; and no one was more dishonored.
If anyone had the right to be angry, bitter, and vindictive, it was Jesus. How did he control himself when the miserable, whose lives he sustained, spat in his face?1 Peter 2:23 responds, “He, when he was outraged, did not retaliate with indignation; abused, made no threat, but gave himself up to the one who judges fairly?
What this verse indicates is that Jesus had faith in the future grace of God’s righteous judgment; He did not need to avenge all the humiliations he suffered, for he confided his cause to God; he left vengeance in God’s hands and prayed for God’s repentance. enemies (Luke 23:34).
Peter gives us this idea of Jesus’ faith so that we can learn to live like this. He said, “Why were you called to do this [patiently to bear the harsh treatment]?Because Christ also suffered in your place, leaving you an example to follow in his footsteps?(1 Peter 2:21).
If Christ has overcome bitterness and vengeance for faith in future grace, how much more should we have, for we have much less right to murmur if we have been mistreated than he is?
