Verse of the day: Don’t be afraid, small herd; because your Father was glad to give you his kingdom (Luke 12:32).
Jesus will not be inert and will leave us in disbelief without fighting. He takes the weapon of the Word and proclaims it with power to all who struggle to believe.
- Is your goal to overcome the fear that God is not the kind of God who really wants to be good to us?That he is not really generous.
- Helpful.
- Kind and tender.
- But is fundamentally irritable.
- Indisposed and angry with us?.
Sometimes, even if we believe with our heads that God is good for us, we can feel in our hearts that His goodness is somehow forced or coerced. We may think that God is like a judge who was manipulated by an intelligent lawyer on the basis of a technicality of the judicial process, so he had to drop the charges against the prisoner he would actually send to prison.
However, Jesus is committed to helping us not feel this from God. In this verse, he tries to describe to us the indescribable value and excellence of God’s soul, revealing his boundless pleasure in giving us the kingdom.
Don’t be afraid, herd; Why was your Father glad to give you his kingdom?Every little word of this wonderful statement is intended to help eliminate the fear with which Jesus knows that we are struggling, that is, that God is reluctant to grant his benefits; who feels ashamed and incompatible with his character when he does good things; who, internally, is angry and likes to express his anger.
This is a statement about the nature of God. This is the kind of heart God has. Is it a verse about what satisfies God?, loves and is happy to do so. Every word counts.
