God’s care for his children

If there is one topic that dominates the conversation is the problem of insecurity, walking around the city is not easy. We fear the urban violence that is becoming increasingly abhorrent, no matter if your car is armored or if your house is properly surrounded and full of security cameras, the feeling that something bad is going to happen suffocates people. We need protection!

Psalm 125 was sung by pilgrims by people who knew well the dangers of life, knew the cold in the column, the dangerous manoeuvres in terms of discipleship and, above all, feared the tortuous paths. Psalm 125 is a song in which pilgrims ask for protection So let’s see what the text teaches us:

  • The people of the Bible were also concerned about security issues.
  • One way or another.
  • So they had at their disposal.
  • They tried to build safe buildings in safe places.
  • With the right proportions.
  • We also have our safety concerns and we use them more.
  • Varied strategies to at least have a sense of security.

For the Psalmist, the city of Jerusalem, due to its privileged geographical position, inspired security in a way. The mountains surrounded the city as if they were battle-ready soldiers, but was it the maximum confidence of pilgrims in the mountains?! The mountain was firm and unwavering forever, but it was not a military feat, it was a figure who referred to the Lord of the Covenant, which guaranteed safety were not the mountains themselves, but the Lord who keeps his people, now and forever. Therefore, those who trust in the Lord are firm.

People may even have armored cars, private security guards, powerful protection systems, but they alone will not provide eternal protection. There is a security that only people who have faith can experience. These people know that God’s attention to their children is now and forever The guard of Israel surrounds us everywhere!

The world is not a safe place and pilgrims knew it, they knew the scepter of the bad guys. The World of the Psalmist was a place of injustice perpetrated by evil people placed in places of power; in exile, for example, God’s people have seen their cultural, religious, and family sites burned, vilified, and mocked. Some skeptics have every reason to sour the soul, but that was not the case. They were like Mount Zion, unwavering forever.

Because of the Lord’s resistance around their own, the people stood firm and unwavering and sang to each other:

“God has a time for the center of the wicked, but the care of the eternal is”now and always. “One hour, the evil government will stop!Don’t be petty like them!!?

People who trust in the Lord know that faith in the Lord does not protect us from difficult times, a swarm of witnesses tells us that God’s protection has gone through exiles, imperial persecutions, inquisitions, world wars, the cold war, dictatorships, wicked presidents, but in all these situations, the Lord has made promises to his people, promises of care that are fulfilled. What is it now and always? The wicked rise and fall, but God’s providence to his people is eternal!

Not all pilgrims continued along the way, yet the Psalmist said a prayer: “Bless the good-hearted. “I think he interceded for the pilgrims who remained faithful. He asked that they be blessed on the path of goodness and justice. At the same time, he left an exhortation: “To those who def from it, the Lord will guide them with the wicked. “It’s a warning: “Persevere to do good. Never think of leaving the way because those who walk away with the wicked, not with the Lord. ?

What is peace? Peace is security in God; peace is the certainty that evil is not eternal; peace is to walk the right and right path, counting on the blessing of the Lord; I think it is in this broader field of alliance relations that the Psalmist asks for peace and experiences peace.

When the Christian sings Psalm 125, he remembers Jesus’ sweet promise: “Here I am with you every day. “He also remembers what the Apostle said: “With proof, the Lord gives us flight. “Remember Joo’s words: “Those who were among us and left because in fact they were never ours. “It is the peace of God that “surpasses all understanding”. Peace is knowing that nothing can separate us from God’s love, that all tears will be wiped out, that the work that the Lord has begun will end, do you know this peace?Do you pray for her and tell your brothers this peace?More than ever, we must relearn how to sing and live Psalm 125!May the Lord help us!
