One thing is certain: from the most remote times, peoples, from the most barbaric to the most civilized, have always devoted a certain time of year to manifestations of ephemeral but unbridled madness. That’s where the carnival came from. Once a year, men feel the curious need to abolish their own personality to take another, fictional, practice the most extravagant activities and say, jokingly and laughing with impunity for everything and everyone, everything that is not allowed to comment seriously. From this human desire for expansion and debauchery were born the Greek bacchanals and roman saturns, whose Carnival descends in a straight line.
