February 26th? Daily devotion CHARLES SPURGEON

Verse of the day: “Salvation is of the Lord!?(Jonah 2. 9)

Salvation is God’s work. It is only He who animates the soul, dead in faults and sins, and it is also He who keeps the soul alive spiritually. He is both “Alpha and Omega”. If I cultivate the habit of praying, God made me cultivate it. If I receive blessings, they are gifts from God to me. If I live constantly it is because he holds me with his hand. I myself do nothing to be preserved, except what God has already begun to do in me. If I sin, this action is mine alone; but if I act correctly, it is completely from God. Do I have a consecrated life before men? It is not me, but Christ, who lives in me. Am I sanctified? ? I have not cleansed myself, God the Holy Spirit sanctifies me. Am I far from the world? I am carried by God’s correction, sanctified for my good. Am I growing in my knowledge? The great instructor teaches me. He alone is my rock and my salvation. Should I feed on the Word? I would not be served food if the Lord had not made it a source of food for my soul and helped me nourish myself with it. Am I receiving increasing strength? Where do I appreciate my strength? My help comes from the heavenly hills. Without Jesus, I can’t do anything. As a branch does not bear fruit, unless it remains on the vine, there is little else it could do if it did not remain there. The lesson that Jonah learned at the bottom of the sea, I want to learn it right now, while I pray. Salvation belongs to the Lord.
