Today we begin a series highlighting the lessons that have been most essential to John Piper’s department.
This first article examines Christian hedonism, the truth that God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.
- We praise what we cherish because pleasure is incomplete until it is expressed in praise.
- If we were not allowed to talk about what we value.
- Celebrate what we love.
- And praise what we admire.
- Our joy would not be complete.
- If God loves us enough to complete our joy.
- He must not only give himself; Should we also earn praise from our hearts on our part? Not because he needs to maintain a certain weakness in himself or to compensate for a certain deficiency.
- But because he loves us and seeks the fullness of our joy.
- Which can only be found.
- Knowing and praising him.
- The most excellent of all beings (In Search of God).
