[ENCARNATION] Ronald Hanko? The Human Nature of Christ

Let us now see the fourth great truth about the human nature of Christ: he who now has a glorified human nature had a weak human nature on earth; his human nature, besides being real, complete and sinless, was weak.

Because Christ had a weak human nature, during his earthly life he was subject to all evils derived from sin, but not to sin in himself; he was prone to illness, hunger, suffering, pain, weakness and even death, just like us. Have you been touched by the feeling of our weaknesses? (Hebrews 4:15, LSG).

  • Romans 8:3.
  • Who says that Christ came in the likeness of the flesh of sin.
  • Also teaches this truth.
  • Because the verse cannot mean that he himself was a sinner.
  • He can only refer to the fact that he was subjected to all the evils that sin brought us.
  • Namely the weaknesses of our flesh of sin.

Therefore, Christ did not come in the image of flesh without sin. It was not like Adam, who after being created enjoyed all the glory and splendor of his first state. He was made like us, who lost this state and received not only depravity and guilt, but also the curse of God.

That’s an important truth. Sickness, suffering, pain, and death are the result of our sin and God’s curse upon us. Christ who endured our weaknesses is part of the fact that it has become a curse for us. He took all our weaknesses upon himself, taking our curse and taking it away from us. What a comfort to us, then, are all his weaknesses!

Isaiah said all this when he prophesied of Christ and called him?Man of pain and who knows what it’s like to suffer. (Isaiah 53:3, RA). His sufferings, Isaiah says, should be explained as follows: “Surely he took our weaknesses and carried our sufferings? Was he pierced by our intrusions and crushed by our iniquities? For his suffering, pain and sadness, was it retribution that brings us peace upon him?(vv. 4,5).

It was not only the death of Christ that had the atoning power, but also the suffering he endured throughout his life on earth. He confessed that when he said, “For my life goes on in sadness, and my years in sighs; my strength falls because of my wickedness, and my bones are consumed?(Psalm 31:10).

There is additional comfort to us in Christ’s afflictions and sufferings; mean that he knows our trials and sufferings through experience. He went through them and we can’t say that no one can really understand our trials. Christ understands!

So too are our Savior’s weaknesses, pains, pains, and sufferings part of our salvation. Let’s not just contemplate and see that there is no pain like yours (Lm 1:2), but believe it!
