[DON’T ABUSE YOUR 2010] John Piper? Experience a passion

The opposite of throwing away life is living it with one passion that exalts God and satisfies the soul. We are driven to look at our lives in the same home, [and have] the cross of Christ as our home. ] life is wasted if we do not capture the glory of the cross, if we do not value it for the treasure it is, and if we do not assign ourselves to it as the highest price in every pleasure and the deepest comfort in every pain.

As for me, who never boasted to me, except on the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, for whom the world was crucified by me, and I for the world (Galatians 6:14).

  • Paul wants to say something that will change every part of his life.
  • Does this mean that.
  • For the Christian.
  • For everyone? It must also be a boast on the cross.
  • Any jubilation in everything else must be a joy on the cross.

Because that’s the way it is?

Why is everything good for redeemed sinners? And, in fact, whatever evil God does good for his saved children, was obtained for us by the cross of Christ. Now we see that every experience of life is designed to magnify the cross of Christ OR, to put it another way, anything good in life (or a bad thing that by grace becomes good) is intended to magnify Christ and the crucified one.

[However] the cross is the only place to glorify the cross. Glory to the cross only happens when you are on the cross. [Then], how are we going to exalt the cross so radically?

Answer: the old “I”, who likes to brag, rejoice and rejoice in other things, is dead. By faith, we are united in Cristo. La death becomes the death of our stimulating life. We are raised to Him in the novelty of life. What lives is a new creature whose only passion is to exalt Christ and his cross.

The people who make a lasting difference in the world are not the ones who have mastered a lot, but those who have been dominated by a great thing. [Then] find the passion of your God-centered life, exalting Christ and saturated with the Bible, and find a way to say it, live for it, and die for it. [And to know that] a life centered on the cross, exalting the cross, saturated by the cross, is a life that glorifies God?The only life that glorifies God, everyone else throws themselves away.
