Say calmly, “Aren’t your outrageous opinions based on the truth?
by John Piper
- Our task as believers is not to control government and education.
- Our task is to tell the truth of God at all levels.
- Whether we change people or laws.
- It’s not our responsibility.
- Our responsibility is to say with courage and clarity what God says.
- Say.
Don’t be silly about the comment that you can’t impose your religion or morality on others. You do not impose; recommends them for serious consideration. Declaring and persuading is not imposing. Recommending is not coertion. The point is that people’s ideas about what to do are guided by some kind of prior engagement. The laity, like believers, have a worldview that guides their opinions. Each policy suggestion is based on a vision of what things should be like.
Christianity is true, so it resonates (albeit faintly) in all hearts. It is never known when the public affirmation of their beliefs will resonate with righteousness in a secular group. Don’t be overwhelmed by the control. Get up and say what God will say. You may be surprised that others are waiting for someone to talk.
For example, are your biblical beliefs less defensible than the statement without a moral basis that is transcribed below?
Recently, a private mental health counseling service in Minneapolis published a pamphlet to “provide information on several personal issues that are difficult to talk about. “This booklet was distributed to students at least one high school as part of the sex education program. Here are some examples of?Information?transmitted.
Choosing when, how, and with whom to have sex is an important part of preparing to become an adult. Choose your partners carefully.
Mutual masturbation, with your partner, is pleasurable and safe
Talk and meet other gay people to help you understand how your sexual preferences can be an important and healthy part of your life.
End the pregnancy by having an abortion? From a medical point of view, it is best to have an abortion after the sixth week and before the twelfth week of pregnancy.
The HIV virus can be prevented. This may mean you need to make changes in the way you have sex, but that doesn’t mean you need to stop having sex.
When you find statements like these made publicly, you can simply stand up and, in a calm voice, say, “This morality has no basis in truth. This is the opinion of men, not God’s. Therefore, it is false and harmful. God’s will for human sexuality is abstinence into marriage and heterosexual monogamy without adultery. Bring justice, health and happiness to the world. I recommend that the advice we give to our teens be true. Thank you?. Then calm down.
