Persevere in prayer
This passage gives us five guidelines for prayer, which we must listen to.
First, “persevere in prayer. “
There is much power to appreciate in persevering in prayer. Remember Luke 11. 8’s unwelcome friend 😕 I tell you that if you do not get up and give it to him as a friend, will you do it for harassment and give everything you need ?; and don’t forget the parable that Jesus told “about the duty to pray always and never disappear. “Perseverance is the great proof of the authenticity of Christian life. I praise God for the believers who persevered in prayer for sixty, seventy, or eighty years. ! Oh! May we be a people of prayer and may this year and all our years be saturated with prayers to the Lord of all power and good. It would be nice to say at the end of my life, “I have finished my career, I have kept the faith,” through prayer.
Second: “Watch in prayer. “
This means: “Be vigilant!? Be mentally awake. The Apostle Paul may have learned this from what happened in Gethsemane. Jesus asked the disciples to pray, but He found them asleep. He said to Peter, an hour? Watch and pray, don’t you go into temptation?(Mk 14. 37. 38).
Do we have to be vigilant while we pray? Vigilant against the wanderings of our mind, against vain repetitions, against vulgar and meaningless expressions, against restricted and selfish desires. We must also watch what is good. We must pay particular attention to God’s counsel in Scripture for our supplications. It is God who operates the will to pray in us, but we always experience this divine empowerment as our own attitude and resolve.
Third, be grateful in all prayers
The accounts of what God has done in the lives of many believers through prayer are admirable; these reports have encouraged me to persevere in prayer with thanksgiving. Share these good things with others.
Fourth, ask to open a door to the preaching of the Word in your life.
Two paths:
1. That, week after week, there are open and receptive hearts in your church;
2. May your neighbors be receptive to the gospel when you announce it. “A woman, named Ladia, from the city of Tiatira, a purple saleswoman, fearing God, heard us; Did the Lord open his heart to take into account what Paul said?(Acts 16. 14) That’s what we want to happen on Sundays and weekdays.
Fifth, pray for the preachers of our homeland, that they may clearly present the mystery of Christ.
“Great is the mystery of piety? (1 Timothy 3. 16). Oh!I love the ministry of preachers!Even if it’s not their size, do I and all the preachers, pastors, need the prayer?mystery of Christ, choose the necessary texts, preach with the power of the Holy Spirit, speak the truth with love. Without Christ, there’s nothing we can do.
