[DEVOTIONAL] John Piper? Knowing God more, because He carries our burdens

Knowing God more, because He carries our burdens

One of the reasons we don’t know God deeply is that we don’t venture too far in His commitment to carry our burdens. Knowing God with a sense of authentic personal reality is not just a matter of study, it is about walking with us. God through fire and not burn. It’s about not being crushed by a load, because He brings you to your side. So what does God take?

1. God has taken away our sins

My Servant the Righteous, with his knowledge, will justify many, for they will take their iniquities (Is 53:11).

Christ, having offered himself once and for all to take away the sins of many (He. 9:28).

He carries our sins upon his body in the wood (1 Peter 2:24)

Believing in this truth and experiencing its liberating effect is crucial to today’s life. Feelings of guilt don’t have the last word! Believing in this truth is also crucial for the moment of our death, the sting of death is a sin, but thank God, because this sting has been suppressed, it is also crucial to our eternal enjoyment. Christ’s work in carrying our sins assures us eternal compensation for all so-called “losses” in this life of sacrificial love. This trust is the basis of God’s knowledge.

2. God is committed to taking our anxieties.

Throw all your anxiety about him because he takes care of you (1 P. 5. 7).

The only other Biblical passage in which the Greek word translated as “throwing” appears in this verse is Luke 19:35, where we read that the disciples put their clothes on the donkey so that Jesus could ride it.

What kind of anxiety does God want to get us off our backs and take for us?All kinds of anxiety. For example, concerns about needs (Fil 4. 4-7), futility (Is 55. 11), weakness (2 Co 12. 9), decisions (Ps 32:8), opponents (Rom 8:31), affliction (Ps 34:19; Rom 5,3-5), old age (Is 46. 4), death (Rom 14:7-9) and uncertainty of perseverance (Phil 1:6; He’s 7. 25).

When George was asked how calm he could feel on a busy day, with so much uncertainty about the orphanage, he replied something like, “I threw sixty things at the Lord this morning. When Hudson Taylor was informed that the missionaries under his care were in danger, was Taylor soon heard whispering his favorite hymn?”Jesus, rest, rest in the joy of who you are!?

3. God is committed to taking care of our care

Entrust your care to the Lord, and he will support you; will never allow the righteous to be shaken (Salt 55:22).

The Hebrew word translated as “care” in this verse can be translated as a part. What did God’s providence bring you today? In the end, it comes from the Lord, I will take you for you. This lot isn’t meant to crush or ruin you. He intends to show your trust in God so that he may carry it for you. (See Psalm 16. 5, 63. 8. )

For Amy Carmichael, him? Sharing was the unique state. There were several opportunities for her to leave this state and commit herself to a “married life. “But he heard the inner voice: “No, no, no. ” She threw this part upon the Lord, who took it herself, making her fruitful and full of joy.

4. God is committed to assuming the cause of justice for us

He [Jesus], indignant, did not respond with indignation; mistreated, he made no threat, but gave himself to him who judges righteously (1 Peter 2:23).

In almost every relationship in life, you will be treated unfairly. “Did Jesus never call us to a just fight? (George Otis Jr).

How can I not be bitter? Let God take his cause and adjust the account on both the cross and hell. Peter said that Jesus dealt with the evil deeds committed against him by surrendering himself to God, who judges all things fairly. God will administer our cause. ” Revenge belongs to me; I’m going to give it back, says the Lord?(Rom. 12:19). Give him your case. Be prepared to be treated unfairly, whether it’s someone who skips the line in front of you or someone who gives false testimony about you in court.

5. Does God commit to take you? your whole life

Hear me the house of Jacob and all the house of Israel! You, whom I have carried since I was born and whom I carry in my arms from my mother’s womb, until you are old, I will be the same, and even you are old, I will carry you; I’ve done it before; Then I am going to take you and take you and save you (Is 46,3-4).

(See also Ex 19. 4; Sl 18. 35, 94. 18. )

Christian life is a life to lead, from start to finish. We work, but it is actually God who works in us (1:15:10).

Conclusion

Come to Him all who work hard and are overwhelmed, and find rest for the soul.

Deepen your communion with God and get to know Him better, venturing further into your commitment to carry with all your worries.
