December 8th? Daily devotion CHARLES SPURGEON

Verse of the day: People who have not contaminated their clothes and will walk in white with me, for they deserve it (Revelation 3. 4).

We can understand this verse as a reference to justification. ? Will they walk in white with me? that is, these people will enjoy a constant sense of their justification by faith. They will understand that the righteousness of Christ has been imputed to them, that all have been washed and whitened than just fallen snow. This verse also refers to joy and happiness, because among the Jews, white clothing was the clothing that was worn on vacation. Those who have not contaminated their clothes will still have bright faces. They will understand what Solomon meant by these words: “Go therefore, eat your bread with joy and drink your wine with joy, for God rejoices beforehand in your works. ” Do your clothes always have to be white? (Ecclesiastes 9. 7. 8). He who is accepted by God will wear the white robes of joy and happiness, as he walks in pleasant communion with his Lord. Why so many doubts, so much misery and regrets? This is because many believers pollute their clothes with sin and thereby lose the joy of salvation and the comforting fellowship with their Lord. They don’t walk in white here on earth. The promise also refers to walking in white before standing before the throne of God. Those who do not pollute their clothes in this world will surely walk in white up there, where armies dressed in white clothes sing eternal hallelujahs to the Most High God. They will certainly have inconceivable joys, unimaginable happiness, a joy unknown to the human spirit, and a joy that even the greatest desires could not achieve. The? Without fail on your way? (Psalm 119. 1) Do they have everything? not by merit of good works, but by grace. They will walk in white with Christ, because Christ made them “worthy” people. In the blessed company of Jesus, such people will drink from the springs of the water of life.
