Verse of the Day: No Defects in You (Song of Songs 4. 7)
Having positively declared his Church full of beauty, our Lord confirms his gratitude by a precious denial: “There is no fault in you. ” It is as if the Bridegroom thinks the world would imply that he had only mentioned the pleasant parts of the church and deliberately omitted the distorted or corrupted features. The Lord Jesus sums it all up, declaring the universal and complete beauty of the church, as well as its total absence of imperfections. A stain is the smallest thing that can distort beauty. However, even from this small place, the believer is delivered into the eyes of his Lord. If the Lord Jesus had said that the church had no serious scars, no horrible deformities, no fatal ulcers, we would be surprised. But when He testifies that the Church is free from all imperfections, all these other forms of degradation are included and the depth of the miracle increases. If the Lord Jesus had promised to remove all stains, now or in the future, we would have reason to rejoice eternally. However, when you speak of this as something that has already been achieved, what can contain the most intense emotions of satisfaction and pleasure? The Lord Jesus has no dispute with his wife. Many times she withdraws and grieves her Holy Spirit. However, the Lord Jesus does not allow his wife’s mistakes to affect his love. Sometimes he scolds her, but always in the kindest way and with the best of intentions. Is he calling you dear? (Song of Songs 4. 1) even when missing. There is no recollection of our folly. The Lord Jesus does not have bad thoughts about us; but he forgives us and loves us, after the offense, with the same affection with which he loved us before. His forgiveness is beneficial to us, because if Jesus was as attentive to offenses as we are, how could He have fellowship with us? Our dear husband knows very well that our foolish hearts are offended by our foolish attitudes.
