December 30th? Daily devotion CHARLES SPURGEON

Verse of the Day: Better is the end of things than their beginning (Ecclesiastes 7. 8).

Consider our Lord and Savior. At first he was despised and rejected by men; He was a man of pain, familiar with suffering (see Isaiah 53: 3). Can you see the end? Our Lord is seated at the right hand of God, knowing that all his enemies will be his footstool (see Psalm 110. 1). According to him, are we also in this world? (1 John 4:17). You have to take up the cross, because if you don’t, you will never receive the crown. You have to go through the mud because if you don’t, you will never walk the streets of gold. So be calm, believing that you are dejected. “Better the end of things than their beginning. ” How despicable is the appearance of an insect larva. It is the beginning of a life. However, if you watch it later, this dazzling winged insect will play in the rays of the sun, drinking from the flowers, full of life and happiness. This is the end. This insect is like you, until it is wrapped in the chrysalis of death. But when Christ is revealed, you will be like him, because you will see him as he is (see Psalm 17:15). The rustic looking diamond is placed on the lapidary wheel, which cuts it on all sides. The diamond loses much, much of what you thought was precious. The king is crowned; the tiara is placed on the head of the monarch with the joyous sound of the trumpet. A brilliant ray shines from the little crown, a flash that comes from that exact diamond that has so recently been afflicted by the lapidary. You can dare to compare yourself to a diamond like that, because it is part of God’s people; this is the moment of the robbery process. Faith and perseverance have their perfect work (see James 1. 3: 4), because the day the crown is placed on the head of the “eternal, immortal and invisible King. ” (1 Timothy 1:17), a flash of glory will shine from you. “Will they be a special treasure for me on that day that I will prepare,” says the Lord Almighty? (Malachi 3. 17). Better the end of things than their beginning.
