December 22nd? Daily devotion CHARLES SPURGEON

Verse of the day: I strengthen you. (Isaiah 41,10)

God has a great reserve to fulfill this commitment because he is capable of doing anything! Believer, until you can dry up the ocean of omnipotence or break through the high mountains of the power of the Most High, you need not fear. The strength of man can never overcome the power of God. As long as the huge pillars of the earth remain, you have reason to stand firm in your faith. The same God who directs the earth in its orbit, who fuels the fiery furnace of the sun and sets the lamps of heaven, has promised to provide his strength every day. Since God is powerful to sustain the universe, don’t think that he will be unable to keep his promises. Remember what God has done in past generations. Remember how he spoke, and everything was done; as He commanded, and the order was soon carried out. Will he who created the world get tired? Support the world in nothing. Whoever does this, will he not be able to support his children? Are you disloyal to your word for lack of power? Who represses the storm? Does he not ride on the wings of the wind, make the clouds his chariots, and hold the ocean in the palms of his hands? How can it fail us? Once God records a promise like this, will He ever stimulate the thought that He will not fulfill it or that the fulfillment of that promise is beyond His power? No, we must not hesitate any longer. Oh my God and my strength, I can believe that this promise will come true, because the limitless reserve of your grace can never be exhausted. Your friends cannot exhaust your abundance of strength, nor can your enemies steal it from you. May all the weak strengthen themselves and make the arm of the Lord their song.
