Verse of the day: come to me. (Matthew 11:28)
The cry of true Christianity is the kind word: “Come. ” The Jewish law says severely: “Go on, watch your steps to know how you are going to walk. Break the commandments and you will perish; fill them and you will live ?. The law was a dispensation from terror that repelled men like a whip. The Gospel attracts with ties of love. Jesus is the Good Shepherd who precedes his sheep, calls them to follow him. It always motivates them to find the sweet word: “Come. ” The law repels; the Gospel attracts. The law shows the distance between God and man; the Gospel fills this terrible gulf and leads the sinner through it. From the first moment of your spiritual life until he is presented to you in glory, the language of Christ to you will be: “Come, come to me. ” Just as a mother extends her arms to her child and persuades him to walk, saying, “Come,” Jesus does with us. He is always in front of you, calling you to follow him as a soldier follows your commander. He is always in front of you to lead the way and clear your journey. And you will hear his encouraging voice, calling you to follow him throughout your life. In the solemn hour of death, the sweet words with which he will bring you to the heavenly world will be: “Come, blessed of my Father!? (Matthew 25:34). Also, it is not only Christ’s call to you, but if you are a believer, it is your call to Christ: “Come! Come! You will want his second coming. You will say: “Come quickly. ” “Come Lord Jesus !? (Revelation 22:20). As his voice calls you: “Come”, your response will be: “Come, Lord, live with me. Come and occupy only the Lord, the throne of my heart. Reign there, incomparable, and dedicate myself completely to your service?”
