Platt holds a degree in journalism from the University of Georgia, joined the Baptist Theological Seminary in New Orleans, where he earned his doctorate and decided to work there as a teacher. He served at Edgewater Baptist Church in New Orleans. On December 28, David Platt was hired to lead the congregation at Brook Hills Church.
